Quarterly Luncheon a Success

March 11, 2016 By Jacque James

The Chamber of Commerce Spice Up Your Day, Lunch and Learn on February 26 was a successful get together.  Over twenty-five communities members lunched on a Mexican Stack Meal while visiting with friends.  Melanie Watson described the Agrilife “Walk Across Texas” program to the group.  The Chamber will launch a “Walk Across Texas” challenge on April 11.   The challenge will encourage business to form a team of eight and try to collectively walk the over 800 miles to cross Texas in a six weeks period.  More information will be given about the on the website in coming weeks.

Jacque James, Chamber Director,  reminded the group that the Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Banquet will be held on April 9, 2016 in the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum at 6:00 p.m.  She told how Crosbyton citizens could nominate their neighbors in the community to be recognized as Man of the Year, Woman of the Year or Citizen Through the Years.   She also gave some marketing ideas using social media from Becky McCray, a small town economic development expert.

The meeting ended with a time for diners to tell about upcoming events.  These included

– Style Show to benefit the Animal Rescue of Crosby County(ARCC) at Casa del Sol on April 2, 2016.  Tickets on sale now at Strikes My Fancy at 515 W. Main.

-Summer outreach program being planned by Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum featuring Fiber and Textiles.

– Junk in the Truck at the Crosby County Farm and Ranch Museum on March 5, 2016.

-“Trunk Showing” at Strikes My Fancy also on March 5, 2016.
