Whirligig Weekend

August 31, 2015 By Jacque James

The Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 2nd annual Whirligig Weekend.  We have made some changes!  Whirligig Weekend will be at the Pioneer Ranch and Farm Museum on 211 East Aspen Street in Crosbyton.  The Whirligig Contest will be on  Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the west end of the gold barn where the museum displays are located.  The event is held in conjunction with “Junk in the Truck Vintage Market”.   We will still have the Whirligig, Wind Chime, and Wind Whimsy contests, but this year we are having a “Classy, Trashy Fashion Show”.  Don’t miss this fun event, in fact, do more than just visit the displays and fashion show, be a part of it.  Make your own Whirligig, Wind Chime or Wind Whimsy out of re-used, re-cycled, or re-purposed items.  Same goes for the fashions.    See you there.

And the Winner is …

August 21, 2015 By Jacque James

Crosbyton Police Chief, John Wilson, was the winner of the Crosbyton Chief Golf Cart raffled by the Crosbyton Lions and the Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce.  When first told about the win, Chief Wilson seemed less than excited, but not so for his wife Kara who knew instantly what she wanted to do with the little cutey.  Don’t expect to see the cart zooming around the streets of Crosbyton though.  Kara will use the cart on their 10 acres to get around.  Go girl.

The Crosbyton Lions Club will use their profits to help the Cemetery Association.  The Chamber will use their profits to hold the Whirligi Weekend that has been changed to September 19, 2015.

Happy Birthday, America

July 6, 2015 By Jacque James

The Crosbyton 4th of July Celebration was a great success!  It kicked off with a Parade and Show and Shine car show and ended with fireworks.  A great day to talk with people, grab some food and enjoy our freedom.  The Chamber sold raffle tickets for the purple and gold Crosbyton Chiefs Golf Cart.  Don’t forget that the drawing will take place on August 1 at the Crosbyton Homecoming Jubilee.  The raffle is a collaboration between the Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce and the Crosbyton Lions Club.  The Lions Club profits will go to the Crosbyton Cemetery Association.  The Chamber of Commerce profits will go to the Crosbyton Community Fund for Chamber projects.  Tickets are $25.00 and are available at the Chamber of Commerce office at 126 S. Berkshire in Crosbyton.

Why Crosbyton

One of the prettiest streetscapes in West Texas is Aspen Street in Crosbyton viewed from the library windows of the second story of the High School building. It is so special because Crosbyton was a planned city. In 1909 The C.B. Livestock Company commissioned an architect to draw a streetscape of the downtown. Aspen Street was built as a large boulevard for stately … Read more...
