Farley’s PC and IT Solutions can keep your business moving from your home desktop to complete IT management for any commercial business, and they do it affordably! Plus they offer remote, on-site pickup and drop-off service too! Call 806-675-2222 today and get those computer problems resolved! Remember, they will even make a home-visit! Affordable- Professional-Reliable AND local! The website is www.FarleysPCandIT.com.

Brenda is from Plainview and Jonathan is from Turkey, and they have three daughters, Cielo, D’Anna, and Evelyn. Jonathan has always had a passion for computers and as a child would take old computers apart and work on them! Brenda recently came to the technology world and says she’s, “still learning”, but we see she is a big contributor to the business!

When asked, “What is your favorite thing about Crosbyton?”, they replied that Crosbyton is a small town without feeling like a small town! When asked, “If you could change one thing about Crosbyton, what would it be?”  Both Brenda and Jonathan replied, “Get a Sonic!”

The Farley’s are proud Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce business members and plan to be one of the local businesses featured on the upcoming Chamber discount card!

The Chamber discount card will be a win-win incentive for both local businesses, as well as patrons. Every business featured on the card will have a unique discount that will entice shoppers to buy at home! Shoppers will receive discounts with local merchants and be motivated to shop at home more often! Membership in the Crosbyton Chamber is a must in order to be on the card or to obtain a card. There is no charge for the card, but rather it is a bonus for being a part of the Crosbyton Chamber. An individual may join the Chamber for $60/year, while a business membership is $120. Other perks for becoming a member of the Chamber include quarterly luncheons with informative speakers and a cash drawing, free advertising on the Chamber website, as well as being featured in the soon-to-be Chamber newsletter! Are you ready to join, or are you ready to reserve a spot for your business on the Chamber card? Please email mkirk@crosbyton.com or contact Jodie at the City office. Don’t wait! Call today!

Tour de Rio Blanco

May 5, 2016 By Jacque James

The Tour de Rio Blanco is gearing up for it fourth run through the county.  The Tour has been set for September 24, 2016.  The ride is the brain child of Dr. Steve Alley of the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.  The ride offers four different routes through Crosby County.  The most beautiful and demanding of the four rides runs through Blanco Canyon on F.M. 193 to McAdoo then turns to hit U.S. Hwy 82/114.

Each year the ride has been able to donate $1000.00 to the Susan B Komen Foundation to eradicate breast cancer.  We are able to do this because of the sponsorship of South Plains businesses.  Here are a list of last year’s donors.  We thank them for their generous participation in the ride.  2015 Donors include:

CROSBYTON CLINIC HOSPITAL

OWENS CO-OP GIN

CROSBY COUNTY FUELS

CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK

BLANCO GIN

ASSOCIATED COTTON GROWERS

CALVERT HOME HEALTH

DR. JUSTIN McCARTHY

Citizens Insurance Business of Month for May

May 5, 2016 By Jacque James

Citizens insurance is Presented “Business of the Month”

The Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is pleased to announce that Citizens Insurance is the business of the month.

Citizens Insurance is located at 209 S. Berkshire with hours from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The insurance company is an affiliate of Caprock Insurance in Ralls, Texas and is owned by Terry Rainwater.  Citizens provides personal lines of insurance for homeowners, auto, R.V., motorcycles, and boats.  They provide bonding for employees.   They also can insure commercial properties and provide liability insurance for businesses.  It is managed by Katherine Foster who has worked in the business for forty-four years.  Her assistant, Alex Sanchez, has been with Citizens for six months.

Katherine provided an interesting history of Citizens Insurance.  It was founded by partners Wade Cooper, Russell McCurdy, Leslie Mitchell, and F.M. Dunn in 1929 making it one of Crosbyton’s oldest businesses.  The partners, who were also part of Citizens National Bank, used the name Citizens for their insurance firm also.  At the depths of the depression in 1932, the business bought another agency for the sum of $112.70.  In 1960 Jimmy Dunn joined his father F.M. in the agency.  Katherine went to work for the agency in 1974 and became a partner in 1988.  Except for brief absences, she has worked there ever since.

She and Mary Dunn sold the agency to Terry Rainwater in 1991 following the death of Jimmy Dunn.  Truly, Citizens is a business with deep roots in Crosby County and the desire to serve its citizens.
