Texas Plains Federal, Crosbyton Chamber Featured Business for March, 2016

The Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Featured Business of the Month for March is the Texas Plains Federal branch office located on 214 South Ayrshire Street in Crosbyton.  Branch manager Amy Harris and her staff, Melissa Naceanceno, Sylvia Pereida and Betty Reed invite you to come in and visit about your banking needs.  The staff is anticipating a move to  a new building in a more convenient t location on West Main Street.

Texas Plains Federal offers a full range of products and services to members.  Those eligible to join include all residents of Crosby County.  Once you join Texas Plains Federal, you become a shareholder entitled to full voting privileges and the right to benefit from all banking services.   Customers also have information at their finger tips when they use the Texas Plains Federal website at www.texasplainsfederal.org.

Quarterly Luncheon a Success

The Chamber of Commerce Spice Up Your Day, Lunch and Learn on February 26 was a successful get together.  Over twenty-five communities members lunched on a Mexican Stack Meal while visiting with friends.  Melanie Watson described the Agrilife “Walk Across Texas” program to the group.  The Chamber will launch a “Walk Across Texas” challenge on April 11.   The challenge will encourage business to form a team of eight and try to collectively walk the over 800 miles to cross Texas in a six weeks period.  More information will be given about the on the website in coming weeks.

Jacque James, Chamber Director,  reminded the group that the Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Banquet will be held on April 9, 2016 in the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum at 6:00 p.m.  She told how Crosbyton citizens could nominate their neighbors in the community to be recognized as Man of the Year, Woman of the Year or Citizen Through the Years.   She also gave some marketing ideas using social media from Becky McCray, a small town economic development expert.

The meeting ended with a time for diners to tell about upcoming events.  These included

– Style Show to benefit the Animal Rescue of Crosby County(ARCC) at Casa del Sol on April 2, 2016.  Tickets on sale now at Strikes My Fancy at 515 W. Main.

-Summer outreach program being planned by Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum featuring Fiber and Textiles.

– Junk in the Truck at the Crosby County Farm and Ranch Museum on March 5, 2016.

-“Trunk Showing” at Strikes My Fancy also on March 5, 2016.

Reliable Home Health is February Business of the Month

Spice Up Your Winter with the Chamber Lunch Time Learning

The Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Board would like to invite you to join us for lunch on Friday, February 26 in The Prairie Ladies Multicultural Center at 224 South Berkshire.

While you are lunching, Melody Watson, the Agrilife FCS extension agent, will challenge us to be healthier in 2016 by teaming up with the “Walk Across Texas” extension program.

We will show you how as a chamber and community member you can help optimize the week-end events that bring people into Crosbyton.

We will look at how layering your information will help your business reach more people.  These ideas come from Becky McCray, a small community economic developer in Oklahoma.

We will also give you information about the Chamber Banquet and how you can nominate a citizen to receive recognition in 2016.

Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market

The Junk in the Truck Market was a great success.  We are already looking ahead to the next Vintage Market in the Crosby County Farm & Ranch Museum.  The next Vintage Market will be held in Crosbyton at the Farm & Ranch Museum at 102 East Aspen on Saturday, September 10, 2016.  Mark your calendar and stash your pennies for the event.
